Lev Jutsen is a director & DOP born and raised between Sydney's beaches and the heart of Chicago’s CBD. His earliest introduction to storytelling came from his grandpa, a survivor of the holocaust and his grandmother, a Filipino Protestant minister travelling across the countryside. Lev's childhood stories imbued in him a belief that shared narrative can contain incomparable wisdom, and when passed on, can change minds and grow perspectives.
In narrative, Lev's short film 'Erwin' was nominated at the St Kilda film festival for Australia’s best short film, best cinematography and won for best original score. It was also nominated as a finalist for best Australian short by Screen Producers Australia. His film Sunburn has been selected at Melbourne international film festival, Brisbane international, Cinefest OZ, Flickerfest and more. Lev directs music videos across Sydney and Los Angeles working for artists like Timbaland and Meechy Darko. He’s shot and directed commercial/content work for clients like Miele, Jet Star, Google and Vodafone.
I live and work on Gayemagal land. I acknowledge these traditional owners and pay my respects to Traditional Custodians and Elders past, present and emerging. I extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Always was, always will be.
